This is just a real good way to use a towel roll. My original Chiropractor showed me, so I knew many would like it, and do well with it. A towel similar to what I'm using works well. "This Is How I Knew A New Pillow Was Needed!"

My wife and I both love our pillows. We both have the Arc4lfe Cervical Linear Traction Neck Pillow. I have a mark on mine so I could tell whose was whose.

Somehow I couldn't see my mark on my clt pillow and I got mine mixed up with my wife's. So I woke up the next morning with neck pain; I'll never make that mistake again...

Her pillow had obviously gotten less supportive (it is normal that this happens after awhile). My neck may be slightly more sensitive, and I notice things like this, faster.

Bottom line was: I got a new traction pillow. I let her keep mine and I took the new one!

What Is A Neck Roll?

This is typically a pillow or support that goes under the back of the neck.    In a neck pillow, the neck roll maintains and improves the "C" curve of the neck.  We will sometimes tell an individual to use a towel rolled up to act as a "neck roll".  This can help them to be able to transition to a neck pillow when they are used to using something very flat.  That neck roll will also fill in the gap between the head and shoulders, when on their side.

Let's talk cervical radiculopathy... First, what is it?  A cervical radiculopathy is pain that travels from the neck to the arm and/or hand.  The nerve root (in the neck) down to the distal part arm/hand) of the nerve or nerves.

Spot Cleaning Your Pillow

Here at arc4life we have seen that if you constantly throw your pillow in the washer, it will start to break the pillow fibers down. This is one reason we like the dust covers. They work as a great protector, you can easily unzip it and throw it in the wash. That being said, let's say you don't have the dust cover on an you get a stain on the pillow. 1)get a toothbrush, get some ivory soap, wet the spot.

2)make a lather with the soap.

3)put it on the spot, scrub it with the brush.

4)clean with water, dry with hair dryer a bit, let it air dry fully.

Alarming Amount Of Sugar...

I had to write a quick post about the amount of sugar we may be getting... I found it quite a bit scary to learn that a Venti White Chocolate Mocha at Starbucks has 18 teaspoons of sugar. The American Heart Association recommends not consuming more than 9 teaspoons a day for a male and 6 for a woman. I was stunned when I learned a soda has about 9 teaspoons. They try to avoid this fact sometimes by cutting sugar and adding a fake sweetener - even worse!

Many individuals have lost the curve in their neck that they need. Technically you need 40-60 degrees. This can be seen and measured on a lateral cervical x-ray. Cleaning Your Pillow

I was just watching the tv show "Shark Tank". They had a guy on who is creating a company that cleans your mattress with ultraviolet light amongst other things. This seemed pretty cool because your pillow is much the same. He made an analogy to a person who doesn't shower but puts on clean clothes. Well they still get dirty and eventually smell... This is similar to the mattress - you put on Clem sheets but never clean the mattress. A pillow is much the same. The nice thing is that you can toss it in the trash and just buy a new one after awhile.

Is My Fireplace Safe?

We've had fireplaces in our homes for years. Before there was heat from the furnace, we may have used fire to stay warm. But can that fireplace become toxic?

Travel Pillow vs. Neck Pillow

What is the difference between a travel pillow and a neck pillow. Technically a "travel pillow" is a U-shaped pillow that you use on a plane, bus, car, or train. It's more for sitting up sleeping. Where as a true neck pillow is for normal sleeping - that's laying down. It will have a neck roll to maintain the neck curve; it will also keep the spine level when you're on you side.
