Neck Muscle Work...

When you wake up with some neck pain, whether it’s late at night or early in the morning, you can’t just wake up your spouse and expect a neck rub.

The one that will most likely will work very often is stretching the neck laterally while massaging the neck at the same time.

So, for right side pain - tilt the head to the left. Now, take your right hand (make a fist so you can drag the knuckles down the neck). This helps to strip out any muscle knots.

Neck Ranges of Motion



So there are the following Ranges of Motion for the neck: Flexion, Extension, Right rotation, Left rotation, Right lateral flexion, and Left lateral flexion.

Putting the neck through these ranges may help. You can also use your hand to push or pull gently giving a bit more stretch.

I also like doing half neck rolls. Flex the head a bit and roll it from ear to ear. Now extend the head back and do the same thing.

What Can I Do Right Now For My Neck?

So you have some neck pain, and it’s the middle of the night? Do some muscle work and stretches to help.

These can often be done right in the bed! 1st, start by doing some lateral bends bring one ear to that shoulder. Tilt the head forward or back depending on where the pain is.

For example, pain on the right side of the neck might feel best from stretching it to the Left. Tilt the left ear toward the left shoulder.

Neck Pain Sleeping In A Bad Position



I always sleep next to my wife. Although it’s usually very nice (especially if it’s cold), sometimes one of our neck's gets in a bad position or I end up on her pillow or something similar...

Anyway, I did just that. Actually, I was on her pillow and my neck was in a bad position! I ended up moving to my pillow. I rotated it from the Gravity side back to the Traction side, which took my pain away.

We all often cuddle up to our spouse, make sure you are in a good position to begin with. The chance you awake to a painful neck are a lot less.

It is. Just like it is best to get your nutrients tomorrow real, whole food, you get more better vitamin D from the sun. Now depending on your global latitude will let you know when during the year you will get the most,

Here in Florida, if you are south of Orlando you will probably get Vitamin D all year. But keep in mind that the higher the angle of the sun, the more intense the rays.

Basically, in the summer, the sun is high over head making the rays stronger, and therefore giving more vitamin D.

Remember, if you feel that you are getting burnt then cover up.

I Had A Headache From Using A very Flat Pillow.



Very flat pillows tend to flatten the spine when you are on your back and tilt the spine sideways when on your side.

What does that mean? Your neck should actually have a "C" curve viewing it from the side, and it should be strait up and down when looking at it from the front or back.

When things are not in the normal/correct alignment we often get nerve pressure, and that can mean pain!

Intermittent Fasting



It seems like this can be a very good thing for the body. You see they have found that doing things the way we've done from the "get-go" is usually very good.

Just trying to fast(not eating anything) is very difficult, especially for days on end. That's one reason I like intermittent fasting - it's very doable. You see, I fast for about 16 hours straight each day for 5 days. Do this once a month or two.

Not only do I like it cause it's doable, it also doesn't affect anybody else in the house....

P.S. don't eat any direct sugars either, but you can drink as much water as you want.

Simple Neck Stretches I Can Do...



Lateral head tilts are probably the most common and simplest stretches one can do.

Simply tilt the head to the side bringing one ear toward that shoulder. Hold for 10 - 20 seconds and repeat on the other side. Do each side 3 times.

Bring the head slightly forward or back will change the muscle you are stretching a bit.

As a warm-up to a workout I'll do some half Neck circles and I may do these stretches post workout.

That is correct there are many pillows out there. Like with anything I try to get a referral or friends recommendation.

I've learned so much about the spine, I know to get a pillow with a neck roll to maintain the curve when on my back and something that keeps me in position when I'm on my side.

When it comes to spinal alignment the Chiropractor knows best so whatever he recommends is probably best. Also, if you've seen him a couple times so he's felt your spine, maybe even looked at your X-rays.

You may be able to answer this one? Does Common sense tell you it will work well for you? Probably not! I've learned, in most instances, go with your gut feeling.

I think the most expensive pillow around doesn't always work either but just be honest with yourself and give things a fair shot. I do know someone who buys the more extra cost item and it seems to usually work out for him.

For me, from personal experience, it's never the cheapest item, and when there are testimonials and professional who use it, that's a good thing.

I Didn't Take My Pillow With Me When I Went Away...



Boy, did I pay the price. I thought everything was good; the pillows at the hotel looked so soft and inviting. But really they only looked good. An hour later when I woke up to fluff my pillow I really missed my Traction Pillow.

Lesson learned - don't decide not to pack a pillow. Pillows can be easily squished into a suitcase. I actually take the small size often when traveling. It is a little lighter and packs easier.

Keeping the neck in alignment and feeling good is too important. Don't neglect your pillow when you travel.

What Can I Do To Test My PH?



They have very easy to use paper strips. These PH strips, as they are called, have a part that will show a certain color that coincides with a chart to show you what your ph is.

So you have to put it in some of your spit for saliva ph. You can also urinate on it to get the urine ph.

You use something different to test large amounts of liquid. I use my pool water tester kit (you can buy them at a pool store or Amazon of course) to test water I drink.

The big key is to have a normal ph. When we get too acidic we start to have problems.  Remember the PH scale 0-14. Zero or One being very acidic, 14 very alkaline, and 7 neutral.

Our blood ph is 7.4.  Many bacteria and viruses need an acidic environment to survive.  You often hear how certain things don't exist at a higher ph.  Cancer for example doesn't survive at a high ph.

We must 1st align the spine. It should be straight up and down from the front or back, and have smooth flowing curves looking at it from the side. This will help the discs stay in place and pull back bulges as much as possible.

The "traction" helps because it basically separates those spaces where the discs are and where the nerves come off the spinal cord.

Also when one loses the normal neck curvature, all the muscles tend to shorten and tighten. We need to stretch that back out to help the neck hold normal alignment with some neck traction as well.

So what should I do?

First, make the decision to get healthy. Keep it on your mind and focus on that... Next, like many other things, you should write it down. And third, make a plan that you can start doing. Make changes to that plan when you need to.

An example may be to workout 5 days a week. Let's say that you can't get to the gym one particular day, have things at home you can work out with. Maybe have a plan in place to do an exercise you dislike if you don't follow your plan, etc.

Next, You see your Chiropractor regularly.

And third, you eat out less. This way you know exactly what you are getting...

"My Neck Still Hurts?"



I've tried everything but my neck is still hurting! I slept good, went to my chiropractor, you name it, I've done it?

Sometimes we just need more time, and sometimes we are doing something that aggravates it and don't know it!

I have found the tri-sectonal hot and cold pack to be real helpful. I like it because it can just sit on your shoulders. I use the heat in the morning when it's cooler and the ice pack later on when it's warmer.

I actually keep a cold one in the freezer and another in the cabinet I can heat up quicker.

Is Swimming Really Such A Great Workout?



So, there are a few things you need to add swimming to your work out. First, you need to have a pool or have one that's available. Your gym may have one! Also have to keep an eye on the weather, if the pool is outside; you have to make sure that the pool is clean, the water is healthy and a good temperature, etc. etc.

I thought everything was good, meaning the conditions I mentioned earlier were all good with the exception that was a little chilly out. So I did my swimming which was great however I think I caught a little cold maybe because the cold temperature getting out of the pool and drying off.

Lastly, I know that chlorine probably isn't the greatest but we don't always have a salt water pool to use.

Is Bike Riding For Your Health?



That all depends! I know some real hardcore bikers, cyclists anyway. I do have a friend who does off road stuff on trails and everything, but that's a little different. You do take some spills every so often and that can't be fun, in fact I know one of those guys just took a fall and I think he broke something.

Anyway, when I talk biking or cycling here I'm referring to guys that ride their bikes on the road or on the side of the road. This could be very dangerous, number one because when a car meets a biker in a crash, the car wins. Number two, you could take a spill just like anybody else or any other biker, and get really injured.

So, when somebody said they bike for their health, I'm not so sure. Riding the stationary bike down in the basement is a nice story. Same thing goes for the recumbent bike in the gym, you can get a great workout without the risks.

"Why Am I Sore After I Slept On My New Pillow?"

The reason is because your body needs to get used to it. Many people have lost some of their neck curve. So when you first sleep or lay on something that puts more curve in the neck it can make you sore.

As a matter of fact, the loss of ones neck curve is the most common spinal misalignment there is. Sometimes it can be seen in ones posture too. If you see forward head posture there's a good chance some of that cervical lordosis is lost.

I think there's a few aspects to not getting sick. One needs to 1st focus on the opposite: staying healthy.

What does staying healthy entail: First we must eat right. Next, we need to get proper rest. Third, we need to manage our stress properly. Fourth, we need to do some form of exercise and Five, we need to get our spines adjusted. To start, you can lay on your Traction Pillow anytime. Next, you can lay with your your head hanging off the bed. I usually spin around so my head hangs off where my feet usually are. Last, when I'm sitting in a chair with a high enough back, I let my head fall back in extension. I like it when the back of the chair is at the spot where I want the most traction.

Of note, is watch the amount you do, you can be sore if you do too much. Also, make sure the spot that hits your neck isn't too hard.

"I Sleep With Two Pillows!"



I've talked to some people who do, and I don't recommend it. One reason it often comes up is that they'll get the Traction Pillow and say it's too high. Then you find out they are putting it on top of another pillow.

It's not that they need the small Traction Pillow, you should just be using one pillow.

Two pillows pushes your head so forward, not to mention when you're on your side, it cranks the head to one side or another. The goal is to keep your spine in alignment - and pushing it in any direction doesn't do that...
