Can The Arc4Life Pillow Help With My Arthritis?

Other terms for "Arthritis" are "degeneration" or "breakdown". Using the Cervical Traction Neck Pillow, you put the neck spine in alignment which will prevent that breakdown.

When things are out of alignment, it leads to pressure on nerves. When there is pressure on nerves, things breakdown quicker.

How do I know if I have arthritis? A simple X-ray will show you. There are other things besides alignment that contribute to arthritis such as a poor diet and lack of exercise but alignment and nerve pressure is the big one so do your best to put or keep the spine in place.

Does Arthritis just come with age? Not necessarily. If malpositions have been there - how long has it been? Age and level of degeneration tends to dictate how severe the arthritis will be.

What Causes Neck Pain?

Ultimately, there can be many causes of her neck pain. What most often it comes down to is pressure on the nerves. That pressure means pain or another unwanted symptom.

Now that we know that the question is how did we get that nerve pressure. Was it a sports injury, was it a slip or fall, was it sleeping on the wrong pillow?

Either way we, most likely, want to get rid of it. The best recommendation is to sleep on the right pillow. In the vast majority of cases that's the cervical traction neck pillow.

Mobility is Key!

You'll notice my title: "Mobility is Key". What I'm trying to say is that motion of your spine is essential. You may have also heard "motion is life".

This is because our spine is designed to move. It is when it doesn't move when we run into problems. You see, lack of motion or restrictions in the spine means pressure on nerves; this equates to pain...So when inflammation builds we get problems. When things move like they should, nutrients get into cells and when things are immobile they don't. Also, inflammation builds, which bis unable to dissipate without motion. This is what really puts pressure on nerves.

We often may think "bone on nerve" because it's so easy to understand; but that's not really what happens. Inflammation builds and puts pressure on nerves.

As a Chiropractor, not only can I restore motion or mobility to an area but I can put things in the right spot too. Over time, if we can not only get motion back but align things as good as possible, painful occurrences are less!

"If Someone Tells Me I'm Crooked..."

If someone says "You're Crooked"; it's probably not a good thing. Assuming they're referring to you posture..., why is this important? Posture is like a window to the spine. If your posture is shifted, then most likely you're spine, inside you, is too. That means possible nerve pressure; and that possibly means pain! Or it could even be something worse.

"I Just Had A Neck X-Ray..."

"My neck x-ray show a lot of degeneration, what does this mean? Oh yeah, the report also says loss of cervical lordosis and decreased neural foraminal spaces at a few levels, what's that?" OK, we've got some degeneration, or arthritis. The term spondylosis may also be used; all meaning the same thing.

what are the phases of neck degeneration
First, if we lost the normal curvature in the neck, we're going to have pressure on nerves. If we get this, we may have pain, we may not. But things will break down faster. Hence degeneration or arthritis. This breakdown may also cause disc bulging. So now we have arthritic bones, discs bulging, and guess what? - Inflammation! All of these thing can contribute to stiffness, pain, maybe numbness and tingling...But also contribute to those holes on the sides of the spine, where nerves come out, to get clogged up. "Ah ha, that's the neural foraminal stenosis they refer to. Yes, the foramen, or nerve holes are stenosed or closed up.

What we need to do is relax the area, taking down inflammation and start working that curvature back in the neck.
